There is a popular hike along the road to Glacier Point that takes you to the top of Sentinel Dome. It isn't very steep (except at the very end) and you get a good view.

Dead jeffery pine on Sentinel Dome The knarled remains of this tree stand in mute testament to the harsh conditions it endured. This is the Jeffery Pine that Ansel Adams took a well known photo of. It died in 1976 but remained standing until 2003. This photo is from 2001, a couple of years before it fell over. Date: July 26, 2001 Location: Sentinel Dome, Yosemite NP, CA |

A Fallen Icon This is the same Jeffery Pine that I photographed in 2001. From this angle I think this looks like a giant crawling across the rocks to get away from the smoke in the valley. Date: July 16, 2023 Location: Sentinel Dome, Yosemite National Park, CA |

A single tree on the steep side Some parts of Sentinel Dome are steeper than others. This area is particularily steep. This scrappy tree has managed to survive here, growing straight up and highlighting the steepness of the dome. Date: July 16, 2023 Location: Sentinel Dome, Yosemite National Park, CA |
