Castle Geyser The eruption I saw was at 7:30 in the morning, so the sun wasn't high in the sky. This allowed me to put the geyser between me and the sun, giving backlit steam clouds. Riverside Geyser with a rainbow Riverside Geyser is on the banks of the Firehole River and water from the eruptions lands in the river. On sunny days a rainbow is visible during the steam phase (towards the end of an eruption). There was a very strong rainbow for a large part of this eruption. Steamboat Geyser Steamboat Geyser is the worlds tallest geyser. It was also dormant for a long time, but has been erupting a lot recently. Because of the eruptions, lots of trees near the geyser have died or are dieing. It wasn't doing a full eruption when I was there but it was spouting water up at least a dozen feet in the air.
