After a couple of text messages, I found my friend Emery leaning against a tree watching the jumbotron and we made our way up to the Washington Monument and toward the capitol. Going up the hill behind the monument wasn't very crowded, but when you got to the top, the density of people really picked up. There were also more rows of port-a-potties.
