[Visual Stimuli] More Yosemite

There are a handful of highly recognizable sights in Yosemite, the major waterfalls, half dome, etc. Beyond that though there are hundreds of other lesser visited sights that are also beautiful. Here are some of them.

Looking down the valley, from the trail to Inspiration Point
One of the first views of the valley you get when you come in to the park on Highway 41 (Wawona Rd) is from Tunnel View. It is a popular place to stop and you get a lot of pictures similar to this one. From there you can hike up to Insparation Point, this photo was taken partway there.

The forest after a fire
In the 1980's a fire burned through the forest, the large trees survived the fire. Notice the partial stumps of trees that did not.

Cabin foundations
In 2008 there was a large rockfall on the cliffs above Curry Village that damaged a number of buildings. The park service then re-evaluated the rockfall hazard zone and removed the buildings that were within that newly enlarged area. All that remain are their foundations.

"Dead Giant" Tunnel Tree
The remains of a dead Giant Sequoia with a tunnel carved through it. The trail passes through the tunnel.

Base of the Tunnel Tree
This is the base of the Dead Giant Tunnel Tree. This tunnel was made in 1878 to attract visitors, now you can walk through it.
